The Commonwealth Institute for Energy and the Environment (“the Institute”) seeks to engage the issues that are currently affecting the energy and environmental future of our Commonwealth and the country. Inherent to this mission is a recognition of the desire by people to develop and promote solutions that balance our nation’s need for responsible energy development and a commitment to environmental quality. The Institute believes that these objectives are mutually inclusive goals that can and should be pursued simultaneously.
Kentucky,
perhaps as much as any other state, must find the right balance between energy
production and environmental stewardship. The Institute believes that we can
bring considerable experience and expertise to bear to the discussion about our
future direction on these matters. We seek to develop ideas that can find broad
support among the energy and agricultural sectors and the environmental
community through the Institute, where a respectful dialogue will produce
common sense solutions to the challenges we face.
